went and had a true "guy" weekend, visiting my roomate chris' mother's house. first of all, his mother lives in the middle of nowhere. driving out there, the road goes from two lanes, to "road narrows" into two directions, but no lines. then, the "pavement ends" and you drive a goddamn dirt road for about five miles. that's where his mother lives. neighbors are almost a half mile away.
we got there just before lunch, had lunch, and chopped wood until we couldn't anymore. then, as a "reward" for all of our hard work, we took a drive farther down the "road" and shot guns. a .22 rifle, two different shotguns, a .38 revolver, and a 9mm handgun.
the .22 was fun, because it was easy to aim. the shotguns were loud as hell, but fun as hell. the ability to shoot something and have it completly explode is a trip. i actually hit the first clay target (thrown) that i shot at. the handguns were a bit harder to aim, but fun, due to the rapid fire capabilities. went through a whole box of 9mm bullets in a matter of minutes.
so, we were up there, in the middle of nowhere, shooting guns, drinking, and having a grand old time. we didn't head back to the house until we ran out of ammo.
the next day, chris took me riding ATVs. he was on his three-wheeler, and i was on his brother's quad. out onto the main road, and off into the hills we went riding. it was a blast... well, until i flipped the damn thing ontop of me. seriously. i was climbing a somewhat steep hill, the thing started to stall out (i was in too high of a gear), so i downshifted into first, and hit the gas. well, when i did this, the bike popped up (as if doing a wheely), but due to the fact that i was going UP a hill, it basically threw me backwards and flipped over, with the quad falling ontop of me.
ow. damn those things are heavy. it hurt like hell, but luckily all that happend was me getting a little bruised and getting the wind knocked out of me. so, i rested, got my shit back together, and got back up, and rode on. made it all the way up the hill the second time. we rode for another hour and a half, and headed back.
my chest and back are still sore, but it was worth it.
